Care Guide
Zuvarello carries a wide range of formal and evening pieces — from flowing kaftans and pleated gowns to structured ball dresses with beading, sequins, rhinestones, tulle layers, and satin-finish bodices. Because construction details differ from piece to piece, the care instructions printed on each garment's own label or packaging always take priority over the general guidance below. Use this page as a practical starting point for maintaining your Zuvarello pieces between events.
Know What You're Working With
Before cleaning, storing, or handling a garment, take a moment to identify its components. A single Zuvarello dress may combine several distinct materials and structural elements:
- Pleated sections (accordion pleats, micro-pleats) that lose their shape under pressure or moisture.
- Embellished areas (rhinestones, tonal beading, sequins, 3D rosettes) that can snag, loosen, or dull if rubbed or compressed.
- Sheer overlays (tulle, chiffon) that tear easily against rough surfaces, jewelry, or sharp nails.
- Structured bodices with internal boning or corsetry that should not be folded, crushed, or bent at odd angles.
- Closure hardware — concealed zippers, lace-up backs, drawstring channels — each requiring a different approach when putting the garment on or removing it.
Check your specific product page or the care tag sewn into the garment for any manufacturer-stated instructions. If the tag is missing or unclear, contact us (details at the end of this page).
After Wearing: Immediate Steps
Once you remove a garment, do the following before putting it away:
- Unfasten all closures fully — unzip, unlace, or untie drawstrings — so the fabric relaxes into its natural shape rather than holding a compressed position.
- Inspect embellished zones under good light. Look for loose beads, lifted rhinestones, or small snags in tulle or chiffon. Catching these early prevents larger damage later.
- Hang the piece on a padded or wide-shoulder hanger. For gowns with heavy beading or structured bodices, support the weight at the shoulders rather than at the waist or hem to avoid stretching.
- Allow any perspiration or humidity to air out before the garment goes into a closet or storage bag. Do not seal a damp piece in plastic.
Spills and Spot Issues
If a small stain or splash occurs during an event:
- Blot — do not rub — the affected area with a clean, white, absorbent cloth. Rubbing pushes liquid deeper into woven or pleated fabric and can disturb surface embellishments.
- Avoid applying water, soap, alcohol, or any solvent directly unless the garment's own care label explicitly permits it. Different fabrics and adhesives used in beading react unpredictably to liquids.
- For pleated or tulle sections, do not press or flatten the area. Let it dry in a hanging position away from direct heat or sunlight.
- If the stain is large, involves an embellished zone, or you are unsure how the fabric will react, stop and seek professional cleaning rather than experimenting at home.
Storing Between Events
Formal pieces with mixed construction need more than a simple fold in a drawer:
- Store pleated and tulle garments hanging, not folded, to preserve their shape.
- Keep beaded or sequined areas from pressing against other items. A breathable garment bag (cotton or muslin, not sealed plastic) reduces friction and dust accumulation.
- Avoid hanging heavy embellished gowns by thin straps alone; the weight can distort the bodice over time.
- Keep garments away from direct sunlight, which can fade printed and dyed fabrics, and away from damp areas that encourage mildew on woven materials.
When to Call a Professional
Seek a qualified garment cleaner or tailor experienced with formalwear if you notice:
- Multiple loose or missing beads, sequins, or rhinestones.
- A pleated section that has lost its crispness from moisture or compression.
- A tear in tulle, chiffon, or a lined bodice.
- A zipper or lace-up closure that no longer functions smoothly.
- Any stain that did not lift with gentle blotting.
Do not attempt to reattach embellishments with household glue or to iron pleated or synthetic fabrics without confirmed temperature guidance from the garment's label.
